We are in the town of "show me your...." for new years (aka New Orleans).
I hadnt realized its been a month since I posted. On December 1 I had a hysterectomy and have spent the whole month recovering. It was a very rough first two weeks after the surgery and I hope to never go through that kind of pain again. I asked why no one told me that it would hurt that bad! I woke up with horrible horrible cramps on Sunday after my surgery and it pretty much stayed that way all day. I cried pretty much the whole time.
On top of all that, on December 8, I received a call telling me that my job was being eliminated with the buy out of our company. Also not a good day there either... At this point Im not sure what I am going to do. I have the opportunity to take a postion at two different clubs but this isnt starting out the way I thought it would. My first choice... the manager hasnt returned my call or email yet (not a good start but Im trying to be optomistic about it.) The second choice, the manager is moving here from out of town and I guess I will meet with him next week some time. My job officially ends on the 23rd so I have to figure something out by then.
Really not much happened after that THANK GOODNESS!
We had a good Christmas! Derek pretty much got what he wanted (Xbox 360 and paintball pants,) Kenny got a brookstone sound machine, massage table (so I can give him massages) noise cancelling head phones, palm 650 phone (birthday present) a few new ties, pictures for the game room walls and new cuff links... did I forget anything? I got a sony PSP and I think I have a total of 6 movies and 4 games... its a really cool little device.
So here we are, in New Orleans for New Years. It rained the first two days we are here but it looks to be a good day today. We spend Friday afternoon and Saturday shopping in a couple of malls. The one here at the Hilton Riverside is not quite back to normal since the Hurricane but its up and going better than one might expect. We decided to go to Lakeside Mall yesterday but round trip it was $55 in cab fare because we dont rent cars when we are here. The mall was much like North East Mall and the boys had a great time shopping. They spent most of their time in Hollister, Aeropostale, Abercrombie and Fitch and American Eagle. Go figure, Derek's a clothes horse (you can blame Kenny for that I think.) One really funny thing is I guess the split up at one store while shopping and ended up both buying two of the same shirts and didnt realize it until we got back to the hotel.... Also, while shopping at some point yesterday the boys bought a fart machine that has a remote and 2 laser light pointers. So for 7 hours yesterday they rode the elevators, walked the hotel and attached mall and some how managed to NOT run the battery down on one laser light and the fart machine. Typical 16 year old boy fun. They even made friends with the hotel manager who was throwing the football with them somewhere in a hallway down stairs. They couldnt make the xbox 360 work on the tv's here in the room so Im glad they found some harmless fun to keep them occupied while it was raining.
So today we head down to Jackson Square and Decatur Street. Bubba Gumps HERE I COME! woo hoo a place that cooks in all Canola Oil so I can eat all the fried shrimp I want and no worries about Hives!
Hopefully I will remember to post again tomorrow about what we see and how the French Quarter looks to us post hurricane.
