Trials and Tribulations? or is this just normal?

My week was semi typical for me, 1/2 the time Im in our home office in Dallas and the other 1/2 Im on the road somewhere. This past week found me on the road to Chicago after making a connection in St Louis. I spent Monday afternoon and evening in one of our clubs in downtown near the Lake in Chicago and then back the next morning to a different one in the Sears Tower. I have to say the rennovations they did were amazing. Taking a club that used to be what I always thought of as "old line" (i.e. dark wood, dark lighting etc.) into something really bright and trendy. In the middle of all of the Hurry Hurry in Chicago I received a call from our copy center stating they accidentally threw away my original materials for our Membership Director training manual. EEEEEK! I didnt think I'd kept a copy from the last class and I wasnt sure if I'd updated my boss's binder either. (Lesson learned there for sure.) Thank goodness I'd made copies of it for someone in another department in June, so my boss's assistant was able to get one of those to the copy center to make copies for the training class next week. I then hurried back to the airport at 12:00 to fly back through Dallas to Houston on Tuesday, amazing how much cheaper a flight can be taking connections rather than flying direct. I cant say I really mind that much since more segments mean I get to platinum that much faster. Seems to me it would be cheaper to fly direct = less fuel but hey.... what do I know? :-) I then went to three different clubs in Houston on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday on the North, East and downtown areas of the city. For those familiar with Houston, I was in Kingwood, Spring, Katy and downtown next to the Galleria. Can you say LOTS of time on the freeways in traffic? Back to the airport at 1:00 on Friday to come home! With all of this going on, Friday morning at 7:10 am one of our clubs in Houston burned to the ground. My sister in law emailed me to find out where I was since she knew I was down there. She wanted to make sure I wasnt at the club when it happened... Wasn't me!

Saturday found me volunteering with mom and dad's volunteer fire department for their semi annaul fund raiser from 8:30 am to 8:30 PM setting up, prepping food etc for 350 or so people and then helping with their fundraiser live auction.

This week finds me getting ready for 30+ people to come in for Champions Club the binders mentioned above, for a week of training. This means verifying their travel arrangements, putting together the arrival and departure lists, going over the banquet event orders for each meal at each location, printing all of the materials and assembling all their "goodies" they get throughout the week. I also have to order 5 dozen roses and buy vases! eeek I just rememberd that part, buy candy for each day AND each person's favorite candy on top of that, etc etc etc.

Next week I'll be "hearding cats" around Dallas as our new hires come in. Should be another interesting few weeks to come!

On top of all of this, on September 15 at 1 am in the morning Derek was just getting back from their football game near Wichita Falls. He wasnt paying attention to what he was doing and backed his truck into a girls car. He didnt know he had done it until he was pulling up in the driveway at his dad's house. At first he thought it was a joke. He went back down there and the girl was being unreasonable. Said they were calling the insurance agent as soon as she got home. Thank goodness the number she wrote down off the insurance card wasnt right so we were able to get in touch with her parents to arrange to pay for it ourselves so it wouldnt make the insurance rate go up. Looks like its going to cost Derek $750 to pay for it. On top of that his phone stopped working the previous week AND then yesterday morning, he was getting his laundry out of his truck that needed to be washed and accidentally picked up his 30GB ipod from the truck seat. It ended up getting washed by Kenny with all the other clothes. It seems he has a little black cloud following him arround right now. On a positive note, he says his grades are all good, so thats a plus!

I should have time to collapse on October 6! I hope

Tell Derek that I feel his pain. Not so much now, but boy all through college, etc it seemed like "if it could go wrong, it would."
