First, just as I said would happen, I posted 3 times in a row and then promptly got busy and forgot....
I just spent what I thought would be a warm and beautiful week in Phoenix. Well when I left Dallas on Monday it was cold and raining... low and behold when I got to Phoenix damn if it wasnt the same there... I thought it didnt rain much in the desert! It actually rained for 2 days I was there and never warmed above 59... I did have a wonderful view from my hotel of the mountains so that was nice once the clouds cleared on Wednesday!
What else surprised me about Mesa, Chandler and Gilbert, AZ was that they had orange trees everywhere! On the new course my company just acquired there were orange trees everywhere. Seems it used to be an orange grove! The last morning I was there, the Membership Director brought me a fresh picked orange. Its sitting on the counter and I plan on enjoying it in the morning with breakfast! can you say YUM?
I did have a couple of weeks at home and now Im through traveling for the year. I racked up 60 flights and all total since 1997 Ive flown just on American Airlines over 755,000 miles. Amazing when you think Ive not flown further than Hawaii mileage wise.
I already have a trip to Georgia and Florida on the books for January as well as a trip around Southern California again. Im sure I'll have to go back to Phoenix in the coming months but not sure when yet.
Lets see... oh yes... ITS COLD OUTSIDE and getting colder. We did a little shopping this afternoon and in 20 minutes the wind went from a steady 20+ to way higher than that and the temp dropped 2 degrees. Amazing what going from 39 to 37 with the added wind feels like! Its a fire in the fireplace kind of night. I made some wonderful Beer Cheese soup tonight and Kenny went on a hunt for bread bowls. I told him I wanted 5 (he didnt know mom and dad were coming over for a birthday dinner) because we were having Chili too. The soup turned out great, there was about 1 serving left and I sent that with mom for her lunch tomorrow.
You know, I always tell people Follow your hunches and Im sooooo glad I did this morning. I woke up about 7:30 and decided I needed to get up and go hunt for Derek's main Christmas present. Kenny and I had been doing some serious searching online and in stores for Rock Band for the XBox 360. I'd been calling around and the Game Stop had said they might have a few come in over the coming weeks but they didnt expect to get many. Sooo while I was on the hunt for that and something for Mom too, I got up and headed out a little before 9. I planned on going by to see what time Game Stop was set to open and WOW they already were at 9:15! I went in, was greeted warmly by the kid working and he asked how I was today... I'll be great if you have what Im looking for! He said, we dont have any Wii and said thats ok, its not what Im looking for... do you have any Rock Band? Why yes we do! We just got a couple in... no one seems to know we opened early... hurray for small miracles. I'll take one please and thank you! I whipped out the 'ol bank card and was on my way... They even loaded it in the Jeep for me! I headed off to my second stop but what I was looking for to get mom wasnt there. Off to Walmart for some much needed toiletries and Christmas cards yes I know Im late on that too. Back home all happy because I'd gotten one thing I thought I wouldnt get after being told repeatedly that none probably wouldnt be available until February!
Tomorrow we will head out to Macys to buy a few more Christmas presents and back to watch our Cowboys play.
More soon I hope....
